Korean Figure Skater’s Injury Photos Emerge, U.S. Figure Skating Apologizes for Mariah Bell
Photos showing South Korean figure skater Lim Eun Soo in pain in the immediate aftermath of a controversial collision with U.S. rival Mariah Bell are beginning to circulate on social media.
The incident occurred during a rehearsal ahead of the ISU World Championships in Saitama, Japan on Wednesday, where both skaters competed in the women’s short program.
Lim’s management, All That Sports, reportedly accused Bell of deliberately kicking and stabbing their skater, who had just finished her performance and was navigating the edge of the rink on her way to rest.
“Lim Eun Soo was skating close to the edge as much as possible to not interfere with other skaters … It seems it was intentional, considering how Bell came from behind,” a spokesperson said.
Additionally, Lim’s management alleged that Bell had been bullying Lim “for months” leading up to the competition.
“In the past, we believed we should just ignore it but it got severely bad as the championships approached … It wouldn’t have been this bad if she apologized for once.”
Now, photos from Twitter user @thelittlepicks showing moments surrounding the incident have started to go viral.

While the exact moment of the collision is unavailable, @thelittlepicks described the incident in follow-up tweets, pointing out that Bell did not apologize even after the rehearsal.
“Bell had chance to come and apologize to Eunsoo on the ice because Eunsoo didn’t go out immediately. But Bell didn’t. So I can only assume Bell wants Eunsoo’s injury.”
What I see is …
1. Bell’s blade hurt Eunsoo’s leg.
2. Eunsoo couln’t go out immediately. She grabbed her leg quite a while.
3. Bell watched that. But she didn’t come and didn’t apologize to Eunsoo.
4. Bell didn’t apologize after practice too.— the little picks (@thelittlepicks) March 21, 2019

The incident was reported to the International Skating Union, but it clarified that no formal complaint has been lodged.
“Based on the evidence at hand at this point in time, which includes a video, there is no evidence that Ms. Bell intended any harm to Ms. Lim. The ISU met with delegates from both USA and Korea and urged both parties to find an amicable solution. The ISU maintains that this remains the appropriate approach.”
According to SPOTV News, a spokesperson from U.S. Figure Skating delivered an apology on Bell’s behalf, saying that the collision was unintentional and that she did not have the chance to apologize at the moment “because her music already started.”
