Blade is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Get ready to meet Blade, again.
In a surprise announcement, Marvel Studios confirmed that a new film based on the superhero is in the works, with Mahershala Ali in the title role. The character is a human-vampire hybrid who protects humankind by hunting vampires.
Previously, Wesley Snipes played Blade in a trilogy of movies released between 1998 and 2004, right at the dawn of the current comic-book movie boom.
Blade isn't Ali's first foray into the world of Marvel. He also played the villain Cornell Stokes a.k.a. Cottonmouth in Netflix's Luke Cage — which is technically also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kinda. It's complicated. Read more...
