Older Rufio to Direct his First Film With ‘The Fabulous Filipino Brothers’

After appearing in front of the camera, Filipino American actor Dante Basco is now ready to make his directorial debut with “The Fabulous Filipino Brothers.”

Basco, who is known for his portrayal of Rufio in the 1991 Steven Spielberg movie “Hook,” will direct the film that he co-wrote with his brothers, Darion and Dionysio, according to Deadline.

The 43-year-old actor, along with his co-writers Darion and Dionysio, will appear in the movie with their brother Derek Basco, while their sister, Arianna Basco, will narrate.

“The Fabulous Filipino Brothers,” a dark comedy set in their hometown of Pittsburg, California, follows the story of the four brothers. One goes to a cockfight, while another rekindles an old fling in Manila, Philippines. The third brother dives into Filipino cuisine and the fourth finds love as he struggles to heal deep wounds.

All of their stories lead to a shotgun wedding in the backyard of their family home.

Basco also lent his voice to play the character Zuko in “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and Zuko’s grandson, General Iroh, in the sequel “The Legend of Korra,” Entertainment Weekly reported. He also voiced Jai Kell on “Star Wars Rebels.”
