The 'Riverdale' Luke Perry tribute is heartbreakingly beautiful
When Beverly Hills 90210 and Riverdale star Luke Perry passed away earlier this year, his loss was felt all across the world. Though Riverdale temporarily stopped production following his death in March, the show waited until the season 4 premiere to formally say goodbye to Perry and his character, Fred Andrews.
Season 4 Episode 1, “In Memoriam,” was dedicated to Perry and focused entirely on explaining Fred’s sudden absence. Minutes into the episode, Archie learns his father was struck by a speeding driver in another town on the eve of the Fourth of July parade his friends had been planning, and the rest of the runtime is dedicated to memorializing both Fred and Luke Perry as Riverdale’s moral cornerstone.
