Major AAPI Orgnization Endorses Joe Biden and The Yang Gang Are LIVID
A super PAC that aims to mobilize Asian American and Pacific Island (AAPI) voters has come out in support of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
“We believe that Joe Biden is the best candidate to defeat Trump and lead our country,” Shekar Narasimhan, chairman of the AAPI Victory Fund, said in a statement. “Out of all the presidential candidates, he has the most experience and cares deeply about AAPI issues.”
Today, we endorsed @JoeBiden for President. We believe that Joe Biden is the best candidate to defeat Trump and lead our country. In our view, Joe can lead us to a safer, more stable world, with less inequality and more justice. (1/3)https://t.co/C2CgEHmoV5 pic.twitter.com/ZWpBqp6F0l

The group plans to spend $2 million on reaching out to Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for the 2020 election, NBC News reported.
The endorsement comes two months before the early primary on March 3 in California, where about one of every six registered voters are Asian American, according to AAPI Data.
In September 2019, Andrew Yang AAPI Victory Fund Forum in Costa Mesa, California, where the Democratic presidential candidate gave his insights on why Californians are an important part of this upcoming election and experience as being the first Asian American man running for president.
But this time around, Yang’s supporters, or the Yang Gang, are livid at the super PAC’s decision to endorse Biden.
“@AndrewYang, @TulsiGabbard and @TomSteyer respected the AAPI community enough to attend your presidential forum, submit themselves on the record to what they would meaningfully do for the AAPI community. Meanwhile, Joe Biden did not attend AAPI Victory Fund‘s Presidential Forum,” one wrote on Twitter.
Here’s what other members of the Yang Gang are saying:
As someone who is Taiwanese-American, I truly do not understand why @AAPIVictoryFund has decided to endorse Biden, and not @AndrewYang.
His story, campaign, and leadership has completely changed the game for Asian Americans.
I had never felt seen before in politics before him.

Here’s the $1.4million receipt from American Asians that shows who you should’ve endorsed. What ever, it’s cool! (and Biden is a favored candidate of mine) #AndrewYangForPresident #YangGang pic.twitter.com/Y55HQ0MStk

I can’t believe this. AAPI Victory Fund, Inc. is a super PAC that from what I can see it was a good thing #AndrewYang was not endorsed by them, not that they had any plans to endorse anyone but Biden. AAPI is registered in Tampa, FL.-FEC Committee Reg. C00589507.

Hey #YangGang if you’re frustrated by the @AAPIVictoryFund endorsement decision I recommend donating to the real AAPI victory fund at https://t.co/p5rvy8m11X

“We make this endorsement with enormous respect for the three AAPI candidates and others who entered the presidential race,” Narasimhan continued. “There is still a tremendous amount of work to be done in the next 10 months, and AAPIs are more engaged than ever. We are committed to continuing our work for 2020 victories and delivering one million new voters for Joe Biden to win the Presidency and for Democrats to increase their House majority and to take back the Senate.”
The super PAC says the AAPI community will play a key role in battleground states such as Nevada, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia and Arizona in this year’s election.
