3 Teen Girls Tell 51-Year-Old Asian Woman She ‘Caused Coronavirus B*tch!’ in NYC
A group of teenage girls attacked an Asian woman while onboard a city bus near Ogden Avenue and West 166th Street in the Bronx.
The trio allegedly approached the 51-year-old victim on the bus and berated her with racist slurs at around 3 p.m. on Saturday.
One of the 15-year-old girls even hit the woman in the head with an umbrella, reports the New York Post.
“You caused coronavirus b—-h!” one of the teens screamed at the woman.
After the attack, the injured woman was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital and received stitches on her head, according to local officers.
Each of the teens was charged with hate crime assault and aggravated harassment. Since they are underage, the names of the perpetrators were not released.
A spate of racially-motivated attacks against Asians has been reported in the United States and other parts of the world since the COVID-19 pandemic began spreading across the globe.
Over a week ago, New York Attorney General Letitia James launched up a hotline where Asians can report racism and crimes against them in New York.
“No one should live in fear for their life because of who they are, what they look like, or where they come from,” James was quoted as saying.
