10 things in tech you need to know today

Good morning! This is the tech news you need to know this Monday.

1. Amazon's drone delivery team has struggled with years of internal conflict, lack of focus, and regulatory issues, sources told Business Insider. An internal timeline seen by Business Insider indicates that a launch date is now set for August 31.
2. Mark Zuckerberg publicly promised to re-examine Facebook's rules on posts related to state violence. The CEO said the company is taking a number of steps to reconsider how it polices its platform.
3. In leaked audio, LinkedIn general counsel Blake Lawit said the platform would "restrict" President Trump and other politicians if they used it to incite violence or spread misinformation. His quote came in response to an employee who asked if new CEO Ryan Roslansky would fact-check Trump's posts, unlike Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
4. Many of the staff working on short-form video platform Quibi have been disappointed by its lukewarm reception, sources told Business Insider. The people described a demanding workload that was made more complicated by the pandemic, as well as a stringent content-development team at Quibi that gave feedback well beyond what rival platforms like Netflix typically give.
5. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has been chastising customers who email him complaining about the companies stance on Black Lives Matter. Bezos said he was 'happy to lose' the kind of customers who complain about the statement.
6. Chinese companies blacklisted by the US for their involvement in Uighur oppression are rapidly expanding to sell COVID-19 surveillance tech. The companies are touting thermal screening and facial recognition technologies, and are finding customers in Western countries including Amazon.
7. WeWork's other founder, Miguel McKelvey, is leaving the embattled office company — and his job as chief culture officer won't be replaced. McKelvey held a variety of roles, including chief culture officer.
8. President Trump's Twitter account appears as the top result when users search the word 'racist.' A spokesperson for Twitter on Saturday told Business Insider that the president is listed under these terms as a result of the company's algorithm, which is triggered by user behavior. 
9. Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian quit the company's board in a 'long overdue' move to do the right thing, distancing himself from a site famous for racist content. Ohanian, who is married to tennis star Serena Williams, said that he is urging the company to fill his seat with a black candidate. 
   
10. Facebook is taking steps to stop the spread of the "Boogaloo" movement on its platform — a term which refers to a potential US civil war or the collapse of civilization. Members of Boogaloo groups on Facebook have been tied to violent plots, and researchers say many Boogaloo participants identify with white nationalist groups or militias.
