These countries will get 25 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from the US
The Biden administration is donating 25 million unused COVID-19 vaccines to other countries, the White House announced on Thursday.
Nearly 19 million of the doses will be given through the UN-backed global vaccine sharing program that helps vulnerable countries.
In total, 7 million of those doses will be given to South and Southeast Asia, 6 million doses will be given to Latin America and the Caribbean, and 5 million doses will be given to Africa.
The remaining 6 million doses will be given to countries seeing surges in COVID-19 cases, including Canada, India, Mexico, and South Korea, the White House said.
"As long as this pandemic is raging anywhere in the world, the American people will still be vulnerable," President Joe Biden said in a statement. "And the United States is committed to bringing the same urgency to international vaccination efforts that we have demonstrated at home."
This is a developing story. Please check back for more updates.
