The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is on sale for the first time ever
SAVE $45: As of Feb. 7, the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition was listed for $144.99 at Amazon. That's 24% off its suggested retail price of $189.99 and its first discount to date.
The latest Kindle Paperwhite and its kid-friendly counterpart had no problem going on sale last Black Friday. But the Mashable's Choice Award-winning Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition has been holding out on us: That upgraded e-reader, in all its ad-free glory, has been holding firm at $189.99 since its release in late October.
Well, it was, at least. Amazon finally has the Paperwhite Signature Edition on sale for $144.99 as of Feb. 7, shaving $45 off its MSRP for its first deal ever. (Best Buy was able to match that price, but its inventory was completely sold out the last time we checked.)
Consider this a public service announcement that the standard Paperwhite and the Paperwhite Kids were also enjoying some relatively deep discounts on Amazon at the time of writing: At $109.99 and $119.99, respectively, both were $5 away from their all-time-low Black Friday prices.
Deeming it "a thoroughly great e-reader" in his 4.5/5-star review, Mashable senior editor Stan Schroeder asserted the Paperwhite Signature Edition is worth the extra cash. The no-ads thing is a huge pull on its own — Amazon charges $20 to remove them from the base model — but you get 32GB of storage, wireless charging, and an auto-adjusting light sensor on top of it, too.
"None of it is essential," Schroeder noted, "but it does feel like you're getting a decent value for your money." Click here to read his full take.
