'The Batman' hits HBO Max on April 18 — here's how to watch the blockbuster at home

"The Batman,"the latest film adaptation of the DC comic book superhero, arrived in theaters on March 4. The movie will maintain a theater-exclusive release for 45 days, but it will be available to watch at home on HBO Max starting April 18.
The films stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero and Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, more commonly known as Catwoman. The movie takes place two years after the superhero starts his quest to rid Gotham City of crime. The film sets Batman against the city's gangs and a mysterious killer known as The Riddler who leaves clues at each crime scene.

"The Batman" is not a part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) series of movies, which includes the recently released "Peacemaker" and "The Suicide Squad," as well as Zack Snyder's "Justice League." Instead, it tells its own story separate from that universe.
Three other DC films are scheduled for release in 2022 and 2023. "Black Adam," starring Dwayne Johnson, is due out in October. "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" and "The Flash" are scheduled for March and June 2023, respectively.
Where to watch 'The Batman'
"The Batman" will be available to watch at home on HBO Max starting April 18. A listing for "The Batman" with a trailer and the confirmed release date is now available on the HBO Max website and app.
HBO Max starts at $10 a month for an ad-supported account, or $15 a month for the commercial-free plan. "The Batman" is expected to be available on both plans. You can access HBO Max through web browsers and media devices, including Android and iOS products, Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, and most smart TV brands.
What time will 'The Batman' be released on HBO Max?
"The Batman" is expected to become available on HBO Max at 3 a.m. ET on April 18. That's the time that HBO Max movies typically start streaming.
However, there have been some exceptions, like "Wonder Woman 1984," which debuted at 12 a.m. ET. We'll update this article if HBO announces a specific release time.
When will 'The Batman' be released on Blu-ray and VOD?
According to a product listing on Best Buy's website, the Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray versions of "The Batman" will be released on May 24. The disc versions include a digital copy, so on-demand versions of "The Batman" should be released by May 24 as well.
You can preorder the 4K Blu-ray from Best Buy for $30. "The Batman" is expected to be available to buy or rent from all major video-on-demand retailers, including Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, Apple TV, and Google Play. We'll update this post once an on-demand release date is confirmed.
