Nio trails Tesla in sales, but the five-seater has a few tricks up its sleeve that might make Musk nervous. China is Tesla's biggest market, after all.
Nio says the ES7 is its fastest SUV to date, hitting 62 mph in a shade under four seconds.
The company aimed to make the ES7's cabin feel like a "second living room."
It comes with heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats.
Adding to the premium feel, the ES7's rear seats are heated and power-adjustable.
The interior is sleek and tech-packed, with a large infotainment touchscreen, a second display for the driver, and a cute, spherical voice assistant on the dashboard named Nomi.
It also features 256-color ambient lighting.
The base ES7 should travel a respectable 301 miles on a full battery, Nio says.
Nio also plans to sell an optional ultra-long-range battery pack that provides a whopping 528 miles of driving range.
Tesla's longest-range Model Y is rated for 410 miles in China.
Not to mention, like all Nio models, customers can pull into battery-swapping stations instead of plugging into a regular charger.
Nio also gave the ES7 bidirectional charging capability, allowing it to share power with appliances and devices. That's something Teslas can't do.
The ES7 comes with Nio's latest semi-automated driving system. Nio promises its cars will eventually be fully autonomous.
Nio will start delivering the ES7 in August. The company is working to expand into the European market.
