The most transformative CEOs of 2022
The caliber of leadership is often the difference between whether a business thrives or flounders in challenging environments.
Insider's second-annual list of the Most Transformative CEOs features three executives who are leading innovation in their industries. You can find last year's list here.
These CEOs are devising new ways to serve a range of interests, including clients, employees, and investors. They're working to give fast-food workers careers that have purpose, expand the customer base in sports betting to include underrepresented demographics, and push the boundaries of modern healthcare.
Insider is proud to announce this second class:
- Brian Niccol, the CEO of Chipotle
- Amy Howe, the CEO of FanDuel
- Rosalind Brewer, the CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance
To choose these CEOs, Insider reviewed the nominations we solicited earlier this year. We also evaluated the financial performance of both public companies and privately owned firms and looked at qualitative evidence of organizations' contributions toward solving big, thorny social issues.
"I want my legacy as a business leader to be affordable, accessible, quality healthcare in the US," Brewer previously told Insider. Brewer is pushing Walgreens to become a healthcare provider on top of a pharmacy company, a plan which includes the company's planned acquisition of Summit Health-CityMD.
At FanDuel, Howe has brought more women into the industry. "By no means have we cracked the code on this," Howe said at the SBC Summit North America trade show and conference this year. "But I think supporting female athletes and advocating for equity with female athletes is really important."
One of Niccol's goals is to make it easier for Chipotle customers to consume high-quality food. "When we think differently, from a food-with-integrity standpoint, and then give you the access and speed that you want," he told Insider, "it's a winning proposition."
