Alan Cumming hosts a 'murder mystery' reality competition show in 'The Traitors' trailer
BBC 'murder mystery' reality competition showThe Traitors established a loyal and feverish fanbase when it launched in Dec. 2022, inspired by the Dutch original. Now, the "psychological adventure" series is getting a U.S. version.
Arriving on Peacock later this month, The Traitors will see screen and stage icon Alan Cumming playing host to 20 contestants hoping to win a cash prize. Of those, three are selected as "the traitors," whose task it is to manipulate their opponents and steal the goods from the rest of the competitors, or "the faithful". This part resembles The Mole, the deliciously addictive Netflix reality series of the same nature.
Cumming will guide the players through this unscripted whodunit set over 10 episodes, in which the traitors "murder" players and the contestants "banish" those they suspect, like the party game Mafia. Players are divided into celebs and civilians; the celebrity category includes one Olympic swimmer and existing reality TV stars, starring in the likes of Fear Factor, The Bachelor, and Survivor.
The Traitors is coming to Peacock on Jan. 12.
