Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5: What are the new colors?
At today's Samsung Unpacked, the tech giant unveiled their new line of mobile phones: the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 (to tell them apart, remember that the Flip snaps shut like a 90's flip phone while the Fold closes like a book).
The sensation of the summer may be Barbie but the movie's joyous pinks and neons are nowhere to be found in these foldables.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 comes in Mint, Graphite, Cream, and Lavender as well as four colors exclusive to Samsung.com: Blue, Gray, Green, and Yellow. We took a look at the site and, though the yellow color doesn't seem to be available yet, the other options are on display in all their muted glory.
The Flip4 came very similar colors (Bora Purple, Graphite, Pink Gold, and Blue)and I guess we shouldn't be surprised that Samsung stuck to what they know.
It makes sense for Samsung to continue to produce the Flip in a shade of purple, the signature color of their most popular (and probably most expensive) ambassadors in recent memory: BTS. In fact the "Bora" in the Flip4's "Bora Purple" was redundant, since "bora" is a romanization of the Korean world for purple. But since fans of the K-pop group use "bora" as a way to express their fandom, Samsung was smart to incorporate it into the color name.
"Lavender" is way less specific, but still an indirect nod to the power of BTS within the Samsung ecosystem.
The color options for the Galaxy Z Fold5 (remember, folds like a book) are even more reserved, coming only in Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream, and two Samsung.com exclusive colors: Blue and Gray. Barbie would be bummed.
