Amazon has some solid gaming deals available now ahead of its October Prime Day sale.

October is here, and that means it's almost time for Amazon's latest sales event: Prime Big Deal Days. Just like Amazon Prime Day earlier this year, Prime Big Deal Days is an exclusive event for Amazon Prime subscribers. Thousands of items will be on sale from October 10 to 11. It's a great chance to get an early start on holiday shopping, and we expect to see some notable discounts on tech products, including plenty of Prime Day gaming deals

The sale should offer shoppers an opportunity to save on popular video games, consoles, and accessories — including some of the best gaming headsets and best PC gaming controllers. During previous Prime Day sales, we saw an Xbox Series S bundle for $50 off, a $40 discount on Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade, the Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro mouse for a record low $52, and more. Whether you're a Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, or PC gamer, you're sure to find a good deal.

Do I need to be an Amazon Prime member?

Yes! Just like Amazon Prime Day, the official deals that pop up during Prime Big Deal Days are only open to Amazon Prime subscribers. Prime subscribers also have access to free expedited shipping, movies and shows through Prime Video, discounts at Whole Foods, and more.

Gamers might be particularly interested in the Prime Gaming perks, which give you free games and in-game items every month.

Should I wait to shop until Black Friday?

Black Friday has been the holiday shopping event for years, and Amazon's new habit of holding Prime sales events in the Fall is clearly meant to compete. In our experience, Black Friday is a better shopping holiday in general, since more items are on sale from more stores, and usually for cheaper prices.

But that doesn't mean that events like Prime Big Deal Days are useless. It's still more than a month before Black Friday, and we're sure to see hundreds of great deals — that's never a bad thing. You should especially keep your eye on Amazon-made products like the best Fire TV streaming devices and the best Kindles, which tend to hit record low prices during Amazon sale events.
