UCLA Players Remain Stuck in China For Shoplifting While Teammates Fly Home

Three UCLA Bruins basketball players who have recently been arrested for shoplifting will remain in China and will not fly back to Los Angeles with their team on Saturday night.

Citing an unnamed source privy to the investigation, ESPN reported that LiAngelo Ball, brother of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill will be staying in Hangzhou for a week or two.

The American collegiate team was in China for their season opener game against Georgia Tech when the players were caught attempting to steal items from a Louis Vuitton store next to their hotel. While initial reports indicated that the men shoplifted from one store, surveillance footage of the players shoplifting from three stores, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Salvatore Ferragamo, inside a shopping center in Hangzhou have emerged.

Currently placed under a type of house arrest,  the players have been mostly limited to staying around the team hotel while investigations are being conducted by the Chinese authorities.

The accusations have reportedly caused a huge embarrassment for the players, their families and the university they represent.
