Jackie Chan to Be Awarded a Lifetime Achievement Oscar

Jackie Chan has never won an Oscar, but he will be receiving a lifetime achievement Oscar for his extraordinary work in film.

Chan, 62, is the Hong Kong legend known for his martial arts stunts and comical personality in popular action-filled movies from “Supercop” to “Dragon Blade”. This has been a good year for Chan who was recently named the world’s second highest-paid actor by Forbes.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Thursday that Chan will be receiving the lifetime achievement Oscar. The statement read:

After making his motion picture debut at the age of eight, Chan brought his childhood training with the Peking Opera to a distinctive international career.  He starred in – and sometimes wrote, directed and produced – more than 30 martial arts features in his native Hong Kong, charming audiences with his dazzling athleticism, inventive stunt work and boundless charisma.”
