What was supposed to be a normal highway traffic stop left this police officer clinging to his life. Illinois State Trooper Michael Cokins was conducting a routine traffic stop on a busy Chicago highway when things took a near-deadly turn. While talking with a driver along the side of the road, he was struck by a passing vehicle driven by Leslie Thurow. He was thrown into the windshield of the Jeep he had stopped, while Thurow collided with an SUV and eventually hit the concrete median.
