Iraqi Army Is Finally Set To Retake Mosul From IS!

The Iraqi Prime Minister has announced plans to retake the city of Mosul, the county’s second-largest city, from IS. Mosul has been under IS occupation for the last two years. The capture of Mosul by IS fighters saw the city’s population dwindle from two million down to about one million people, with about 4,500 fighters in it – according to USA Today. The BBC estimates that figure to be up to 8,000 IS fighters in the city. Retaking Mosul won’t be a walk in the park for the Iraqi Army, as the ISfighters are likely to have built up strong defenses. However, Major General Najmi Al-Jabouri is confident of the troops’ capability of taking the city. The capture of Mosul would a big blow to IS as it would mean the end of IS caliphate in Iraq.
