Honor 9 price and specs revealed ahead of launch

Honor has a launch event scheduled for June 27, but it looks like we've already seen what the Chinese firm will announce after Amazon put up a comprehensive pre-order page detailing a number of specs.

The phone in question is the Honor 9, which according to the product page on Amazon UK, has a headline feature of dual rear cameras in a 20MP + 12MP configuration.

It also shows the handset has a 5.15-inch full HD display, octa-core Kirin 960 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a 3,200mAh battery, 8MP front camera and a curved glass body.

A fingerprint scanner is also listed, while the Honor 9 price was shown as £379.99 (around $480, AU$630) – although the page has since been updated to read “currently unavailable” rather than pre-order with the pricing removed.

The Honor 9 may also pack a punch when it comes to sound - possibly hi-res audio - as the listing states the phone is "an audiophile's dream" without going into any more detail.

Strange screen

The Honor 9 is set to replace the Honor 8, a well-rated, affordable smartphone that challenged the flagship elite by offering something close to high-end specs at a more approachable price tag.

We're not too sure that all the Honor 9 specs on Amazon are 100% correct though, with the 5.15-inch screen size a slightly odd choice. The Honor 8 had a 5.2-inch screen, so perhaps Honor will round up here.

The dimensions listed also don't make sense - 0.74 cm x 7.09 cm x 1.15 m - so there's definitely some inaccuracies in play.

What it does seem offer though is a compact handset which will be easier to use one-handed compared to the super-sized screens on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 and HTC U11.
