Considering the year the franchise started, Fast & Furious could have been a lot worse for women. The films kicked off in 2001 and introduced Michelle Rodriguez as Lenny, who was as fast and furious as her male counterparts on the road — not just a sexualized prop (looking at you, Transformers). As the films went on though, the bar should've been raised, and Rodriguez has grown frustrated with how the franchise treats women.

F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one,” Rodriguez wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday. “Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise.
