Indonesia Now Instagram’s Biggest Market in Asian Pacific Region
Indonesia is now home to 45 million active monthly Instagram users, a figure which has more than doubled from the 22 million users per month in early 2016.
According to the photo- and video-sharing platform’s internal data released on Thursday, the country is now Instagram’s biggest market in the Asia Pacific region. Based on the firm’s 2017’s first quarter data, Indonesian Instagram users have accounted for over 6% of Instagram’s 700 million active users per month, AsiaOne reports.
Facebook Indonesia’s country director, Sri Widowati, revealed in an announcement that Indonesia produced twice as many Instagram Stories worldwide on average.
“For the people of Indonesia, sharing an important moment is part of the culture, so it is no wonder Indonesia has become one of the largest Instagram Story content producers,” Sri was quoted as saying.
Instagram’s 24-hour visual-sharing component called the Story tool has only been out for ten months, but by June, it has already amassed 250 million active global users daily.
Instagram HQ’s product-marketing director, Susan Rose, revealed that 80% of the company’s thriving community is outside the United States, and a significant portion of it is in the Asia Pacific region.
“Indonesia is an important and thriving part of the Instagram community and the strength we’re seeing in Indonesia is translating into the overall strength we have in the Instagram platform globally,” Rose revealed at a Thursday press conference.
Currently, Instagram attracts an average of 400 million users per day. Based on the released data, Instagram now has 8 million business accounts registered around the world, 1 million of which have used the platform to actively promote their products.
“So they’re leveraging the products they have to grow and build their communities,” Rose added.
