Normally, any work of art which has been around for more than 100 years is a big treasure. With that in mind, you can easily understand the kind of attention drawn by one statue of Buddha that has been around for 1000 years. More news came up when something else was discovered inside the statue.
It was while the Chinese statue of Buddha was at the Drents Museum – which is in the Netherlands – when a mummified body in the shape of a monk was seen in it. The discovery was made when some CT scan was done on the statue.
As revealed by CNET, the remains belonged to Liuquan – a Buddhist master within the Chinese Meditation School.
Reports indicate that 1100 AD was the time when Liuquan passed away.
According to a story on CNET, there were scraps of paper that had ancient Chinese characters in the positions where his vital organs were supposed to be.
