'Game of Thrones' sets directors for the final season and it's all becoming too real

Game of Thrones will turn to veteran directors to helm its final six episodes — including two who are arguably the biggest experts in Westeros outside of George R. R. Martin himself.

We've confirmed that David Nutter, Miguel Sapochnik, and showrunners David Benioff & D.B Weiss will be the only four directors on Season 8. 

There's no word yet on how many episodes each director will tackle, or in which order, but sources indicate that Benioff and Weiss plan to direct the series finale and bring their iteration of Martin's story to a close. In recent seasons, a director has usually helmed two episodes, shot concurrently, although with Benioff and Weiss' other responsibilities, it's possible Nutter or Sapochnik will take on an extra and leave the showrunners with the finale.
