How to Add and Manage Multiple Accounts on Instagram

Did you know that since November 2015 it’s been possible to add and manage multiple Instagram accounts within the app itself? It’s a great time-saving feature that you, as a savvy social pro, should be taking advantage of if your Instagram marketing strategy includes more than one account.

This step-by-step guide will show you how.

How to add multiple Instagram accounts on the app

Make sure you’ve updated to the latest version of Instagram
Go to your profile and tap the gear icon in right hand corner
Scroll to the bottom of the Options menus and tap Add Account
Enter the username and password of the account you’d like to add. You can add up to five

Switch to the account you’d like to remove
Go to your profile
Tap on the gear symbol
Scroll down and tap Log Out of [Username] or Log Out of All Accounts
If you select Log Out of [Username], you’ll remain signed into your other Instagram accounts
If you select Log Out of All Accounts, you will remove all of the accounts you’ve added on your app
Choose whether you want the system to remember the password and then tap on Log Out

Managing multiple Instagram accounts with Hootsuite is a breeze. First, you need to add Instagram to your Hootsuite dashboard.

How to add Instagram to Hootsuite (on desktop)

Click on your profile icon in the launch menu and then select Add a Social Network
In the pop-up window, select Instagram and press Connect with Instagram
Log in and authorize Hootsuite to access your account
Pick the tab you want to work with and select Add Stream
Choose Instagram from your list of connected social networks and select your Instagram profile

Click Send Now, Schedule, or Autoschedule
At the time you chose to publish, you will receive a push notification from your Hootsuite mobile app. Hootsuite push notifications must be turned on to publish to Instagram
Review your post and when you are ready to publish, tap on Open in Instagram
Ensure you are logged into the Instagram account you wish to publish to. This is very important when you’re working with multiple Instagram accounts. Your photo or video will be posted to the account your Instagram app is currently logged in to—even if it differs from the account you have selected within Hootsuite. So double check that you’re logged in to the correct Instagram account
Select the desired orientation for your photos or use Instagram’s Boomerang or Layout apps and tap Next
Complete your image edits and tap Next again
Paste your caption, tag people, or add your location
