Woman Beats Cleaner for Accidentally Splashing Her ‘Expensive’ Shoes with Water in China
A sanitation worker was rushed to the hospital on Monday after she was badly beaten up by an angry woman. The reason for the beating? She accidentally splashed the woman’s expensive shoes with water at a seafood market in Sanya, Hainan island. Police are now investigating the case.
Bystanders who witnessed the attack told BTime that the incident started when the cleaner, whose name was withheld from the report, accidentally splashed water where the woman was standing and it hit her shoes. After realizing her mistake, the cleaner apologized and said she did not know the woman was there, as translated by Shanghaiist via Medium.
However, instead of accepting her apologies, the woman suddenly attacked her verbally and began beating the cleaner over the head. While the rich Asian woman was beating her, she kept shouting that there would be no way for the sanitation worker to compensate her for the damage, as the shoes were very, very expensive.
After the attack, footage from the event shows the woman being taken away by the police while the sanitation worker gets taken to the hospital with a bloody cloth over her wounds.
Many netizens were enraged by what happened. “Wearing expensive shoes won’t hide your ugly heart,” one user from China’s Weibo wrote in the comment.
Unfortunately for those who are curious, the brand of the “expensive” shoes that the woman was wearing when the attack happened was not revealed in the report. However, a quick pause in the video posted on Miaopai – at around the 00:13 to 00:16 second mark – will show rather ordinary looking sandals or running shoes. Perhaps they were not as expensive as the woman purported them to be.
What do you think? Was the woman’s outrage deserved, or was there no cause for anger? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
