Recap: Small Business Summer School Live Stream
Summer School? Usually these words strike the fear into people as it reflects a Summer of work and not play. But that is not what this Summer School session is about!
Yesterday, Google, along with Vistaprint, LinkedIn and of course, Constant Constant, came together to host a series of sessions for small businesses on how to ramp up for the holidays and enter the second half of 2018 strong. We joined this group live from New York, along with over 17,000 registered small business audience members to launch this informative and exciting session. Now that doesn’t sound too bad, does it?
Yes, Live events are always fun – but no worries if you didn’t make it! We live tweeted this entire event, and have the full recording available just for you. Check out the recap below along with some tips that we shared live from the sessions:
Summer School started off with Social Marketing 101, taught by Julia Cabral from LinkedIn. Julia reviewed how to increase your presence and grow your business with LinkedIn. Here are some tips we tweeted live:
Let’s talk about @LinkedIn etiquette. Make sure you’re connecting with the people you know and the people you want to know — but make it personal, not sales-y, and nurture these new connections. @jcab6 #SmallBizSchool pic.twitter.com/MIuElTP8JL

“As the owner, you’re the face of your business … @LinkedIn gives you the opportunity to establish your credibility and your trust.” Great advice from Julia! @jcab6 #SmallBizSchool pic.twitter.com/cnEbdaCSUe

The following session kicked off with our favorite subject, Email Marketing 101, with none other than our very own Dave Charest. Dave delved into email marketing fundamentals to get ready for the holiday season. This included best practices for collecting email addresses and engaging and strengthening relationships with your customers and email subscribers. Here are some of the tips we tweeted live:
Encourage people to engage with you! Remove non-essential information from your emails to drive your desired actions. Always provide value. Great tips from @DaveCharest! #SmallBizSchool pic.twitter.com/9AtY0xZCJO

Don’t exhort people to join your mailing list — no one wakes up wanting more email. Make it personal and about them, remember to provide value and focus on what’s in it for them!
