Samsung Galaxy S9 price drops to $559 as the Note 9 approaches
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is on sale today in the US, with the biggest savings on the six-month-old Android phone we've seen yet. There's a good reason for that.
It's $559 for the unlocked Galaxy S9 today only through Newegg, but this S9 deal ends at 12am Pacific Time, according to the electronics retailer.
Why the sudden (temporary) price drop? Deals like this happen every time Samsung is ready to usher in a new phone, in this case the forthcoming Galaxy Note 9.
S9 at a cheaper price or Note 9?
The decision between the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9 should be a simple one, even more so today. They're different enough in look and, for today, price.
The normal-sized S9 (as opposed to the S9 Plus) has a 5.8-inch curved display, 64GB of internal storage, and a single-lens camera. It's the right anyone who wants a one-hand-friendly version of best Samsung phone, and it's $559 today.
The Note 9 is poised to have a 6.3-inch display, S Pen (with a yellow color option for the stylus), bigger battery, dual lens camera, and up to 512GB of internal storage.
It's also going to be much more expensive. The S9 Plus debuted for $$840, and the Note series is always more expensive. It could go closer to $1,000 – iPhone X prices.
