Boy in India Gets Completely Run Over By Van, Walks Away Unharmed

A video of an eight-year-old boy springing back to his feet and walking away after getting run over has gone viral on social media.

The incident occurred at the parking lot of a residential complex in Mumbai, India on Monday, the Khaleej Times reported.

CCTV footage shows the boy taking a break from playing with friends to tie his shoelaces in front of a parked Wagon R.

The car’s female driver, identified as Shraddha Manoj Chandrakar, apparently started the vehicle without seeing the boy in front.

As a result, Chandrakar ran over the boy.

Fortunately, the boy only sustained minor scratches after the incident.

More surprisingly, he managed to get back to his feet without any issue before jogging away from the site.

None of the boy’s friends seemed to have noticed the incident.

Chandrakar has since been booked on charges of negligent driving, but was released on bail. The boy’s family declined to lodge a complaint until the video went viral.

“The boy sustained minor injuries… but the family did not want to submit a complaint initially. However, when the video went viral, the family was convinced to give a statement,” Police inspector Xavier Rego told the Indian Express. “Since it was a bailable offence, she was released on bail immediately.”

The incident has sparked discussions on the legal status of cars parked in housing compounds and the safety of children playing near them.

Netizens are pleased to learn that the boy was unharmed but called for an appropriate punishment for Chandrakar.
