When Wordle came out in 2021, it quickly became a pandemic hit. People proudly shared their daily results on Twitter and bragged to their friends when they guessed the right word, and the online game became so popular that it was eventually bought by The New York Times.
Now, Wordle's has reached peak ubiquitousness: It's being released as a board game this holiday season.
Designed for 2-4 players, the physical board game pretty much has the same rules as its digital counterpart: You try to guess a secret five-letter word in as few tries as possible.
Only with the board game, you're directly competing against your friends or family, using dry-erase boards to write down your answers. Additionally, there are several versions you can play, like "fast mode," where you race to get to the answer quickest, or team mode, where you deliberate with a partner.
For fans of classic word games like Scrabble, Taboo, Codenames, or Bananagrams, the Wordle Party Game is sure to make a nice addition to the collection. While the game isn't out until November 14, you can preorder it now in time for the holidays, whether you're shipping it as a gift or want to snag it in time for people coming over.
