LONDON — If you've ever been frustrated by the sight of a record shop placing artists into a genre called "female vocalists", then look away now

British singer Kate Nash tweeted a photo she took while perusing a music store yesterday, which prompted something of a tweet storm. 

Nash spotted a category in a record store entitled "females of all description". Nice. 

Her outrage couldn't be contained in just one tweet, however.

Nash signed off on the matter with a simple message: "Don't categorize my sex #femalesofalldescription." 

Nash wasn't alone in her outrage. People on Twitter shared their frustration at the blanket-labelling of female musicians comprising a genre in itself. Read more...
