Landon is a 6-year-old boy, and like all kids his age, he's very excited about the holidays, and he hopes Santa will bring him plenty of gifts this year. He and his family visited a Michigan mall for one specific purpose: To meet Santa so that Landon could tell him what he wanted for Christmas.

However, Santa was not prepared for what Landon would ask him. He wasn't asking for a gift, he wasn't asking where his reindeers sleep, he asked him something heartbreaking: Will my Autism put me on the naughty list? This little boy was actually afraid his mental disorder would leave him with coal for Christmas!

Santa was quick to assure the little boy that everything was okay and his Autism would definitely not leave him on the naughty list. He told him that “You know I love you and the reindeer love you and it’s OK. You’re a good boy. You’re a good boy, you know?” Landon's mom looked on with awe as the normally nervous Landon completely calmed down and was able to relax with Santa. It seems like Santa was able to reach the boy in a way that his mother never could. He told Landon, "It's OK to be who you are!"

This was clearly one of those Christmas miracles you hear so much about. For the next 5 minutes, Landon and Santa sat chatting like two old friends, talking about the boy's interests, school, and all manner of subjects. Santa kept the boy's mood at an elevated level the whole time.

While Santa's message to Landon may seem tailor-made for the boy, it can apply to all of us. Be yourself. That was the one thing Santa wanted Landon to remember. And that message is better than any Christmas gift Santa could have given him this Christmas. The gift of self-acceptance. His mother talked about how much it meant for her and Landon to meet Santa that year, saying "Here was Landon, sitting with Santa and being told that it was ok to be himself. Mommy tells him all the time that he’s special and I love him the way he was made, but it’s always nice to hear it from others. We have met a lot of amazing people in our Autism journey, but this one made the top of the list."
