New Tip for Increasing Facebook Video Reach
Facebook has changed the way they rank organic videos in the News Feed. Now, more weight will be given to videos that people finish watching.
What this means for businesses
Facebook will calculate the percent of each video that users watch to determine whether they think the video is compelling.
Longer videos, which require a bigger commitment, get “bonus points” when people watch the whole thing (this bit was put in place to prevent Facebook from penalizing longer videos). In fact, longer videos may see a “slight increase” in distribution on Facebook.
Bottom line
Create videos that are relevant, engaging, and tell a compelling story.
How long is long enough?
How long should your videos be? Long enough to tell your compelling story, of course.
For comparison purposes, the average length of a Facebook video is 55.3 seconds. [Locowise study]
