The Australian accent still confuses Americans. Just ask Steve Harvey.
It doesn't matter that Crocodile Dundee was a huge hit in the U.S., or that Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman are a regular fixture on its screens.
Some Americans still find it hard to decipher the Australian accent.
As in the case of host Steve Harvey, who couldn't quite understand the accent of Steve Irwin's son, Robert, when he and his family appeared on Sunday's episode of Celebrity Family Feud.
When asked to "name something a 5-year-old might ask a bank to loan him money to buy," Irwin replied eagerly with "a car!"
Not that Harvey seemed to understand: "What? What'd you say?" he said, to which Irwin stretched his mouth and accentuated the "r" in "car." Read more...
