YouTuber Outrages Malaysia By Insulting Iconic Grass Jelly Drink

A YouTuber known for his gaming channel has caused quite a stir over an inflammatory tweet about a precious Malaysian drink.

Driftor, known for his gaming videos on YouTube, tweeted about a drink that he tried and subsequently disliked, calling it “the worst drink on the planet”. He appeared surprised by the comments he received from commenters, specifically coming from Malaysia; unbeknownst to him, the drink, called Cincau, is culturally significant to the people of Malaysia and often consumed with soy milk. It is especially popular during the Ramadan period, making the drink even more important to some people than just a regular beverage.

Commenters were quick to point these things out, and Driftor often responded.

The tweets soon spread like wildfire in the Malaysian twittersphere, which prompted Malaysian users to post messages to the influencer in their language. Driftor seemed to be amused with their angry comments.

The incident prompted many of his followers to lend their support after the backlash.

Some followers took the opportunity to suggest new drinks for him to try.

He seemed to take the suggestions, as one of his next tweets was that of him trying more drinks.

What do you think? Should he have scaled back on the hyperbole or is this an overreaction? Let us know in the comments!
