'Cuphead' behind-the-scenes clip speaks to my inner jazz geek
Cuphead draws much of its inspiration from early "Silly Symphony" shorts from Disney, and other musically-inclined cartoons from the medium's youngest days (looking at you, Looney Tunes). And, as we see in this new behind the scenes clip, that extends to the music.
This was a Thing with classic cartoon shorts: Music was central to the experience. Big band jazz ensembles didn't just set the mood; in many ways the sound they created guided the action.
So it is with Cuphead. During the limited time I spent playing the game earlier this month, the music popped just as much as the hand-drawn visuals. And much like the game's painstakingly crafted and colored imagery, the sound design goes for a similarly authentic feel. Read more...
