Kate Winslet refused to thank Harvey Weinstein in her 2009 Oscars speech
As more and more damning allegations come out against Harvey Weinstein, actress Kate Winslet shared her thoughts on the Hollywood producer, explaining why she purposefully decided not to thank him in her 2009 Oscars acceptance speech.
On Saturday Winslet told The Los Angeles Times that despite being pressured to thank Weinstein — who dozens of women alleged sexually harassed and assaulted them — she "deliberately" left the producer's name out of her speech because of his "rude" behavior.
In 2009 Winslet received the Oscar for "Best Actress" for her role in The Reader, a movie that Weinstein's company financed and distributed. So it made sense that industry members urged her to thank the producer on stage. Read more...
