Japanese Netizens Warn Logan Paul to Stay Out of Japan for Laughing at Suicide Victim

Logan Paul released an apology video on Tuesday for recording the body of an apparent suicide victim in Japan’s Aokigahara Forest, but Japanese netizens want him to stay far away from their country and never come back.

Paul has since taken down the YouTube vlog, titled “We found a dead body in the Japanese Suicide Forest…”, featuring him and his friends stumbling upon a lifeless body hanging from a tree in Aokigahara Forest at the base of Mount Fuji.

But an edited clip of the original video by Jhb Memes, which doesn’t show the dead body, shows Paul and his friends laughing after their discovery, and has been making the rounds on social media.

After facing a barrage of heavy criticism for posting the video on his channel, Paul, who has has more than 15 million subscribers on YouTube, released an apology on his Twitter account on Monday night.

“Let’s start with this – I’m sorry,” the apology reads. “This is a first for me. I’ve never faced criticism like this before, because I’ve never made a mistake like this before. I’m surrounded by good people and believe I make good decisions, but I’m still a human being. I can be wrong.”

He goes on to say that he wanted to raise suicide awareness and prevention, but Japanese Twitter users weren’t having any of it.

A Change.org petition has already been set up with a goal of disabling Logan Paul’s YouTube account.
