The Biggest Name in K-Pop is About to Be Silenced for Almost 2 Years
K-Pop megastar G-Dragon is enlisting in South Korea’s mandatory military program on February 27, according to local media.
The BIGBANG leader and Chanel Ambassador will reportedly join the 3rd Infantry Division Recruit Training Center, also known as the “White Skull,” in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province.
According to AllKpop, actors Ji-chang Wook and Joo Won also entered the “White Skull” and participated in “rigorous training exercises.” The two are currently serving as instructors in the center.
For those who may not know, all able-bodied South Korean men are required to serve in the military for two years, The Korea Times noted. This is the result of the Korean War that ended in 1953 in a truce and not a peace treaty.
G-Dragon, whose birth name is Kwon Ji-yong, will undergo five weeks of basic training before receiving his military assignment, Soompi reported. He will serve until November 26, 2019.
The next BIGBANG member to join the military is Taeyang, enlisting on March 12.
