Massive Korean Food Hall to Open in San Diego in June
To celebrate the grand opening of a new 40,000+ square foot H Mart in San Diego, the location will be hosting an onsite Korean food hall.
The famous Asian Supermarket is expected to open its doors as soon as Friday, June 7 at a former Sports Authority building located at 7725 Balboa Avenue in Kearny Mesa. The market will soon be home to everything from fresh meat and seafood, produce as well as packaged goods and will also host a Korean food hall featuring five unique concepts.
The H Mart chain was first founded in Queens, NY in 1982 and has since grown to be the largest chain of Asian supermarkets in the U.S. with over 60 locations across the country. The name of the chain is short for “Han Ah Reum” in Korean, which aptly translates to “one arm full of groceries.”
According to SanDiegoVille, the collection of eateries at its new location will include options such as a branch of Korea’s famous fried hot dog chain Myungrand Hot Dogs, stir-fried rice cakes from Sin Jeon Topokki, Korean soul food from Bann Cuisine, Asian fusion from Kangnam Chef, and Korean fried chicken and pork cutlets from Katzya. However, the food hall will not be serving alcoholic beverages at its location.
