7 harsh truths that are difficult to accept but will ultimately make you stronger

It’s hard to hear the truth. Nobody likes to be put into place or checked. But sometimes its necessary. Getting put down by some harsh truth is probably one of the best things for us.

Obviously it will bruise your ego a little, but overall? You’ll be fine. You might be a little angry or in denial after hearing some of these rude awakenings, but if you take them to heart and really think about them, you’ll probably come out a much better and stronger person.

Here’s the seven best reality-jarring phrases that will help you the most.

1. Nobody is actually too busy to respond to you

Lets face it. If someone says that they’re actually too busy for you, chances are that they don’t actually want to make time for you. Think about it. If the situation was reversed, and somebody that you really cared about asked to spend time with you, wouldn’t you move heaven and earth just to spend a little time with them?

2. Everybody puts their own interests first

It’s true. And honestly with good reason. Yes its good to help others, but at the end of the day, people care mostly about themselves. But that’s also very important. How can you go and help others if you yourself are in need of helping? Sometimes, you have to put the needs of yourself before the needs of others, even if it makes you look selfish.

3. It’s impossible to keep everyone happy

This one is a hard pill for many people to swallow. Somewhere out there, somebody isn’t going to like you. No matter how hard you try to be friends with everyone and make everyone love you, someone out there isn’t going to want to get along with you and try to ruin your day.

4. The world owes you absolutely nothing

This is probably the most important one on the list. You need to remember that this world owes you absolutely nothing. And before you argue, think about it like this. If there is anyone else is the world that doesn’t have something you believe you are owed, is it an entitlement? Or a privilege?

5. You make excuses for yourself

We all do it. Bottom line. And the only way you could not make an excuse for yourself is if you never mess up. But we all know that nobody is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes, and at some point, they try to pass the blame off of themselves and onto someone or something else.

6. Your actions define you, not your thoughts

This has the same meaning as the phrase “Actions speak louder than words.” No matter how much you talk, your actions are going to be what people actually remember. You could tell somebody that you miss them and want to spend time with them, but if you never make an effort to see them or create time in your schedule, you just sound fake.

7. Nobody will save you from your life

Nobody, not your parents, not your significant other, not your best friend, can protect you from life forever. Eventually reality sets in and kicks you to the ground. But that’s ok. By experiencing life, we begin to grow up and mature. And those aren’t anything worth running away from.
