Wharton Professor Who Says Chinese Men Are Ugly Should Probably Look in a Mirror
A Wharton professor is under fire after making some strange and racist remarks he made at a recent real estate conference.
Peter Linneman, who’s also a principal at real estate consulting firm Linneman, was interviewing billionaire Sam Zell when they starting talking about the abolishment of China’s one-child law. They both agreed that “nothing happened” after the law was changed.
During the discussion, Linneman suggested that it was because no one wants to have sex with Chinese Men.
“Look at Chinese men, that may be your explanation.” he said. Zell who seemingly didn’t want to get deeper into the discussion and replied: “That’s too heavy for me.”
Immediately following the comments, an audience member stood up condemning Linneman’s remarks.
“Your comment was uncalled for when you said no one would have sex with Chinese men,” said the person.
The panel was ended shortely after when Zell turned to Linneman and said “Let’s get out of here.”
EisnerAmper, who organized the summit, released the following statement:
“EisnerAmper does not condone the comments made on stage by Peter Linneman and they in no way reflect the values or views of EisnerAmper. He was invited to participate based on his decadeslong career in real-estate data analysis. We deeply regret his comments.”
Before the interview, protestors where picketing at the conference venue alleging that Zell displaced people form their homes, according to the Washington Post. Protesters wearing bright orange T-shirts stormed the conference room chanting “Sam Zell, you can’t hide, we can see your greedy side,” right before Zell took the stage.
