iPhone 8 and iPhone X cases: how will you protect your new phone?
The iPhone 8 or iPhone X still isn't official and won't be until Apple announces the new phone at its September launch event, but that hasn't stopped accessory manufacturers revealing their cases for the phone.
We've seen multiple cases for the new top-end iPhone leak despite no-one knowing for certain what the phone looks like.
Below you'll find photos of cases we've already seen announced, but we wouldn't recommend buying these at the moment as it's unclear whether they will fit the new phone snuggly.
There's also a lot of confusion over name of the next iPhones. iPhone X and iPhone 8 seem to refer to two different phones, so if you do purchase now there's a risk of buying an accessory for the wrong device and ending up disappointed.
Olixar Ultra-Thin iPhone X gel case
This is one of the cheapest iPhone X cases on the market right now and it should protect your phone from the odd scratch.
We don't think it'll be able to do much to protect your device if you drop it though and the gel material won't feel as comfortable on your palms as the glass that's rumored to be on the back of the next iPhone.
Desmay Slight iPhone 8 case
Case manufacturer Desmay has revealed its first case for the iPhone 8 and it shows room for a dual-lens camera that sits vertically on the rear but doesn't tell us much else about what the accessory manufacturer expects from the phone.
The company claims to be selling one of the thinnest iPhone 8 cases at 0.35mm, but that's quite an easy achievement considering not many accessory manufacturers have revealed new iPhone cases yet.
Totallee thin iPhone 8 case
These may be some of the best looking cases we've seen for the iPhone X so far and the super thin designs mean the case shouldn't make your phone much bulgier in your pocket.
Again there's a vertical camera cut-out, but here you'll get the choice of a variety of colors including a bold blue and green as well as brown, which are all unlikely colors for Apple's new phone.
Olixar ArmourDillo iPhone X protective case
This is perhaps the most protective case we've seen for the next iPhone so far. It looks to have a sturdy design that will ensure if you drop your phone it won't break, and if the phone does come with a bezel-less display that could make it all the more fragile, so a case like this could be desirable.
That said, this isn't the most attractive case as you will lose the rumored glass-backed design we've been expecting on the new iPhone.
Other choices
A lot of other accessory manufacturers have confirmed work is underway on cases for the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, but right now those companies have decided not to reveal exactly what they're working on.
That likely means we'll see more details about new iPhone cases from Speck, Case Mate, Pad & Quill and many, many more on September 12 or 13 right after the launch of the next iPhone.
