Here's why California's musical road sounds so darn weird
There are many, many long stretches of road in America, but not many of them are particularly interesting. Or, for that matter, particularly musical.
There are exceptions, though.
On one stretch of highway in Lancaster, California, there are some grooves in the road specifically designed to play Rossini's William Tell Overture when a car drives over them.
Pretty cool, right?
Well, sort of. The only problem, as YouTuber Tom Scott explains in the video above, is that the grooves weren't spaced out properly — so the road sounds badly out of tune. Read more...
