iPhone X contract prices appear from Sky Mobile - and they're not as bad as we feared
The iPhone X launch date is set for November 3, but we've already had our first contract pricing announcement.
Sky Mobile has been the first to blink and launched its range of tariffs for Apple's great new hope in the smartphone space, and it's less than we were expecting.
The cheapest sees you paying only £42 per month with nothing upfront for the 64GB iPhone X, although that's only going to net you 500MB of data on Swap24. We'd have to question why you're going to get such a high-end phone and then only live in Wi-Fi zones.
- Where will the iPhone X land on our list of best phones?
- Here's everything you need to know about the iPhone X deals
The most attractive options to our eyes is the 10GB variant, where customers get 10GB of data per month for £57, still with no upfront cost.
That works out at £1,358 over the course of the 24-month contract, which for a £999 phone isn't too bad.
You might make a small saving by buying the phone upfront and going SIM-free (which would give freedom over an upgrade) but given we were expecting prices to soar over £60 for the phone, Sky tariffs are surprising.
Not the only option
With Sky Mobile you also get the ability to roll over your data each month, so feasibly going for the 5GB per month option, which is only £52, and if you're not going to be streaming the internet every day then you might end up with a pretty hefty bank of data to use.
If you like the idea of having the iPhone X on contract but only want to stick with a 12-month term (on the Swap12 plan), you can go for a slightly higher monthly option, with £99 upfront and the cheapest cost coming in at £54 per month.
Now Sky has gone live with its pricing, we're expecting to see other networks follow suit ahead of the 27th October pre-order date - get ready to see what deals your own network is offering if you're not with Sky.
- We doubt the iPhone X will get many Black Friday deals, but other top phones certainly will
